A Scriblink board is a powerful tool that enables you to connect privately with friends to collaborate. Whether it be for pure artistic enjoyment or more practical matters, Scriblink brings you the power of free hand expression with anyone, at anytime, anywhere in the world.

The board allows you to invite up to five people at a time to join you, either through email or directly by copying and pasting the URL. Below is a detailed explanation of the unique features of a Scriblink board.

The Toolbar
toolbars

The Scriblink toolbar gives you all of the functionality you would ever need on a digital whiteboard, and it is fairly intuitive.

  1. Invite People
  2. This feature allows you to invite someone to join your whiteboard session, either by sending an email invitation or by retrieving the exact location of the whiteboard (via its URL) for your convenience.

  3. Tools

This menu lets you choose between a variety of powerful tools:

    1. Free hand drawing
    2. Square stencil
    3. Line stencil
    4. Circle stencil
    5. Text box
    6. Eraser
    7. Drawing grid. Click once to activate the grid to aid you in drawing evenly and proportionally, click again to turn off.

  4. Colors
  5. This tab allows you to change the color of your marker and board by selecting from hundreds of different colors in the palette. The board palette will change the background color of the board itself, allowing you to change your whiteboard into a blackboard, or any other color you choose. In between these two features you will notice a sliding bar; this lets you toggle the line thickness of your brush, and also controls the size of the eraser and text.

  6. File
  7. The first three buttons of the drop-down list let you save, print, or email a board. When a board is saved it is stored on our servers and the URL is sent to the given email address. When you are ready to revisit the board, click the link in the email and it will take you to your saved board. The email feature functions similarly except the board URL is sent to anyone you choose.

The remaining buttons allow you to upload or remove an image. An image can be uploaded from your hard drive, or by entering a URL. If an image is too large it will be scaled down (in proportion) to fit the board. An existing image can be removed by either clicking the button, or uploading a new image.

  8. Undo & Clear
  9. Tabs five and six are straight forward. They allow you to undo the last action you made, or clear the canvas entirely and start from scratch. An important thing to note here is that when one of the collaborators hits undo or clear, the canvas will go blank (or remove the last action) for everyone sharing the Scriblink board. This is to ensure everyone is on the same page.

Users Connected and Chat Messages

The Users Connected box lets you know who is on the board and the Chat Messages section allows you to communicate with those people. When a collaborator selects a particular color, you will see their name change to that color. This will help you distinguish between members and know who is contributing what.

Conference Call
confcall

This small phone icon on the buddy list is an enhanced feature that allows you to make free conference calls (within the continental US). Below are detailed steps on how to use this service:

  1. To start, simply press the phone icon.
  2. A toll free phone number and an access code will appear in the chat box. Call the toll free number and enter that access code when prompted.
  3. Ask your collaborators to do the same thing.
  4. Within moments, you will be routed into the same conversation with your collaborator(s). Only normal long distance charges by each caller's carrier apply. There will be no bill or charges from FreeConferenceCall.com or Scriblink for this service.
